Hampton Inn & Suites Houston/Pasadena

The rooms are clean enough, but they don’t have basic things like a mini fridge, even though there’s a cabinet for one. Looks like they went cheap when furnishing the place. I’m in Pasadena for a week at a time pretty often, and not having a fridge for that long is really inconvenient. There are plenty of other places nearby, so I’d stay somewhere else. I definitely won’t be back.

I stayed for a week, and it was a very disappointing HHonors experience. I asked for a manager to call after speaking with an assistant manager at checkout, but nobody ever did. The service was poor, and there are better choices nearby. When I arrived, I requested 10-15 hangers and was told they only had 5. I asked for housekeeping every day, but it didn’t happen, and on one day they left a cleaning rag in my room. The faster internet made no difference across multiple days and devices. I was told the refund for it had been handled, but the charge was still on my folio. The HVAC was loud when it kicked on. One elevator didn’t work, and the white lettering on the buttons in the working elevator and hallway looked like a bad White-Out job.

I came to Houston for professional career training, and this is the hotel my company had booked for me before. I got a suite last time, but this trip was arranged at the last minute, so I couldn’t get one. I brought dinner leftovers back to my room to eat the following day, then found the double queen room had neither a mini fridge nor a microwave. That may not bother everyone, but it matters when you’re stuck at the hotel for a few days, especially on a budget. There are better options in town that don’t cut corners to push you into a pricier room.

The location was great and the breakfast area was clean. The rooms were clean, too, but the housekeeping schedule was inconsistent. One day my room was done before noon, and the next, dirty towels and trash were still there at 2:00 pm. There’s no queen double-bed suite, so read the amenities before booking. Only the king suite has a fridge and microwave, so plan for that. For the price, I expected more than just a clean hotel.
