Rodeway Inn (ex. Motel 6 - Pawleys Island)

The one good thing is the location near the beach. Otherwise, I don’t recommend staying here and won’t book again. The room was dirty, with toenail clippings by the bed and a floor so filthy my feet turned black right away. The bathroom door hit the toilet, making it impossible to get in without stepping into the shower, so the bathroom was basically unusable. Breakfast was a complete failure too. The waffle mix tasted awful and wouldn’t cook properly, and the microwave egg and sausage were beyond bad. Nothing was any good except the orange juice, so don’t count on the breakfast they promised. If you can find somewhere else, stay there.

For the price, it was decent apart from the roaches. I killed several at night. A couple of the stairs felt dangerous, with edges that caught my shoes as I stepped up and could make me trip or fall. The bed was big but both hard and bouncy, and it creaked loudly enough to wake your partner when you turned over. The shower took at least ten minutes to warm up. Breakfast was okay, with waffles, cereal, bagels, juice and yogurt. If you want eggs and meat, you’ll need to eat somewhere else.

The place felt safe, calm and peaceful, and it’s near the beach. I stayed one night and had a very good experience, largely thanks to Krishna on the night shift. My first room had a heater problem, which he fixed quickly. When I mentioned a bad smell, he apologized, checked another room and moved me; the new one was clean and comfortable. Later that night, my father had a medical emergency, and I was scared and didn’t know what to do. I called the front desk, and Krishna stayed with us for two hours in the cold. He suggested giving my father hot water, brought blankets to keep him warm, and helped until we called an ambulance. He handled it all calmly. I’ve never had hotel staff show that kind of care, and I really appreciated it. I highly recommend staying here.

Nice, quiet location and a good price. The rooms are passable, but they don’t clean during your stay, and honestly, they don’t seem to do a very thorough job between guests either.
