Holiday Inn Jackson Southeast - Pearl by IHG

The Alumni House Sports Bar and Grill is a big convenience at this Pearl hotel. Having a full restaurant and bar right there meant we could get a hot meal or a drink without dealing with traffic, and the menu had a good range of comfort food. It's also a nice place to catch a game in the evening. The rooms were spacious, modern, and reliably clean, with comfortable beds and enough soundproofing for a quiet night. Business travelers get well-lit work areas and dependable high-speed internet. The hotel brings together the usual Express convenience with the restaurant service you might expect from a larger property, making it a strong option in the Jackson area. Its location also makes getting to Trustmark Park and the Outlets of Mississippi easy, whether you're there for baseball or shopping.

The hotel manager, a man with blue eyes and peppery hair, was very nice. Still, we're most likely staying somewhere else next time. This was my second stay, and although the rooms were generally clean, the carpets badly need shampooing. They felt sticky underfoot. The TVs both had a noticeable blue tint, and coffee came with powdered creamer only. For real creamer, you have to go downstairs to the lobby coffee bar. Dinner downstairs with my husband and daughter, who's only seven, was uncomfortable. An older man kept staring at us, especially my daughter, and gave me the creeps. He hadn't even ordered food, so I don't know why he was allowed to sit in the dining area.

We left at 4:00 am instead of staying the night because the room was so uncomfortable that we couldn't sleep. The AC made things cold but didn't remove the humidity, so everything felt damp and sticky. The large room looked clean, but smelled damp, like dirty carpet. The AC really needs fixing. At checkout the woman said she'd report it, but that didn't help us.

The rooms are always spotless and top notch, and the location works perfectly for me, right by a great strip mall and the bass pro shop. I love this hotel and wouldn't choose anywhere else.
