La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Pearsall

It’s been consistent over the years, and the hotel feels safe and has breakfast. The location works well for a Mexico trip, since hotels in Laredo are just plain bad.

On my third stay, in room 304 on 8-21-25, the bedroom AC worked fine but the one in the living area never got cold. It ran warm day and night. Aside from that, it was a good stay and a great rate. I first stayed in room 304 and liked having a private room with a living room. As a diamond member, the price came to $75 after taxes, a bit better than the rate for San Antonio. On my second visit, 7-2-25, it was $75, maybe the best rate at a good La Quinta in Texas. The room was clean, quiet, and had no bugs, though there were hairs on the hardwood where animals had clearly been. Cleaning could be better around tables, couch corners, cracks, and edges. I found change, a lighter, and a fishing hook in the carpet. I left the ten cents behind, so no big win for me, lol. Before booking, I talked with Bernice, the GM. She said even diamond members had to pay an upgrade fee, which would make a supposedly complimentary upgrade not complimentary. I got the private room again without paying it. At checkout they said they were going paperless. Fine, but I always get a paper copy. The front desk smelled musty, but past that, Bernice and the hotel are pretty sweet.

The manager was rude, and I’m still waiting a week or more for the $200 they took from my card. Only after the charge went through did they tell me there was no pool, even though that’s why I rented the room. I’d called beforehand to ask the general manager about a deposit. She said it was my responsibility to tell her I was local, not hers. I’ve stayed at four other local motels to swim, and none charged a local fee. I won’t be back.

The lobby was nice, breakfast was standard, and the location was quiet, away from busy highways. My room looked like someone had just slept there. They gave me a large two-bed accessible room even though I’m not disabled. I was traveling for business and couldn’t find basic things like an iron, ironing board, or hangers. The tap kept dripping and couldn’t be fixed. The carpet looked dirty, and so did the armchair, with stains on its arms. They had shampoo, but I would’ve liked conditioner too, and a water cooler on the floor.
