I checked in Thursday at 10 pm, and the parking lot was full of company trucks, apparently from refinery workers. From my room on the side of the hotel, I could hear a group of workers drinking and laughing. It kept going until 1:30 am. The reception is in the middle of the rooms, so I’m sure the overnight staff could see it on the cameras and hear the noise. Maybe the hotel has a deal with the refinery to house employees. When I checked out at 7 am, the workers were gone. I told the receptionist about the drinking and loud talking, and that nobody had said anything to them. The reply was, “I’m sorry.”

We slept so well here, and the room was comfortable and very clean. Check-in was handled by a delightful lady. This was the best stay of our four nights away from home. If you want a clean room at a reasonable price, I’d encourage you to stop here. You’ll be glad you did.

The location made this an easy stop after a long drive, just a short drive from I-20 at exit 39, with a gas station nearby. Inside, Budget Inn Pecos has new furnishings and a warm feel. I was impressed by the colors, furniture, and attention to the decor, and the room was comfortable. The staff and management were attentive and responsive, which made the stay smooth. As a General Manager myself, I appreciate that kind of care. I had some responsibilities back at my own hotel, but I still found Budget Inn Pecos a very good place to stay. I don’t have immediate plans to come back with colleagues or friends, though I can see why others would enjoy it. It’s a comfortable, well-located, nicely designed hotel.

I’m here a few times most months and keep coming back. The owner and his wife are always friendly, and the rooms are really clean. Even walking around in socks, I don’t end up with dirty socks from the carpet. You can tell they look after the place. The outside may fool you, but the rooms are well maintained, which is hard to manage in an oilfield town.

The front desk was polite and professional, and I slept like I was at a resort. It looked a bit rough from outside, but the place was clean and quiet. I’m not sure I’ll get to travel here again, but if I do, I’ll stay here.
