Hampton Inn Pennsville

When I was getting ready to shower in the morning, I found the tub wasn't clean, so I couldn't take one. I went to speak with the General Manager about how disappointed I was with the whole stay. She said nothing else could be done because I'd received an upgraded room, and that staying under Friends & Family meant I'd given up my right to raise issues. I'm still a paying customer and feel I should have been treated like one. I'm a Diamond Hilton Honors member and believe that should have meant better service. I've been a Hilton Honors member for a while, and this is the only time I've been treated this way. I had requested a king room in the app for one night, 1/27/26. We arrived around 6:30pm, but my digital key hadn't come through, so I had to get key cards at the desk. Room 303 smelled foul. There were no sheets on the bed, and someone had used the toilet without flushing it, which explained the smell. I returned to the desk, told the staff member, and he apologized and moved me to room 201. I was told the next morning that it was an upgrade. It had an office space I hadn't asked for and didn't need. After a long trip, I just needed sleep so I could continue traveling in the morning.

Those pillows are barely more than cloth. I ended up using three under my head, and that was my biggest complaint. The tub also had a little rust, and the TV would sometimes cut off. The rooms haven't had the updates Hilton has been making at its other hotels, but they did what I needed them to do. The front desk staff were really friendly. On check-in day, December 1st, the woman working was welcoming, joking and laughing. My company paid for the stay, so I don't know what it cost. Maybe I'd feel differently if I'd paid myself.

We were driving from NC to CT, and this was an easy place to stop and rest for the night. The beds were so comfortable that I slept right through, even though I usually wake up a couple of times. The room was very clean and smelled fresh when we came in, and the staff were friendly and cordial. One thing to know if you're sensitive to perfumes or colognes: the provided soaps are very strong, so bring your own.

The breakfast buffet was below mediocre, and the lobby furniture was scuffed, stained, and fraying. This was far below what I expect from the Hilton brand. After a 12-hour drive, we were looking forward to staying at the Pennsville Hampton Inn. I'd stayed here before without problems, and I was also looking forward to the room upgrade. Room 308 was in rough shape. The bathroom floor was very sticky and dirty, the sink caulking was dirty, and nearly every screwed-in bathroom fixture was rusty. The drains were rusty too, and the sink drain wasn't sealed. The toilet tank lid was broken, there was a spider on the bathroom ceiling, and the window treatment was broken. The carpet had stains and hadn't been vacuumed, with candy wrappers and other debris scattered around. The tile floor was sticky, especially in the corners; the lamp base was dirty and the chair was stained. The sofa cushions were stained and the upholstery was fraying. The bed was made, but the sheets were so wrinkled they almost looked slept in, and the blue bedskirt was falling down. Usually I'd ask for another room, but I was just too tired to deal with it.
