GrandStay Hotel & Suites Perham

I checked out about an hour ago and am trying to get the owners of the Grand Stay hotels in Perham, Minnesota, to talk with me and sort out a charge. We paid $190 for one night, were respectful, and even left the front desk a $20 tip after they suggested somewhere to eat. Now they’re trying to charge me a ridiculous amount over towels left on the floor. They also claimed there was spilled champagne on the walls and ashes by the window, but we didn’t spill anything, and we never touched the bedroom window. We do smoke, but not in hotel rooms. I told them to check the cameras, since they’d see me go out at least eight times to use the designated smoking area. We only used the whirlpool tub, which was the reason I booked the room. This was the first time I hadn’t taken before-and-after photos. When I called to ask about the extra charges, the staff member said champagne had been spilled. When I asked for the owners, I was hung up on. I called again and asked for anyone in charge, but the woman was rude and hung up again. Has anyone else had trouble here? I have pictures showing how many times they’ve tried to charge me. I’d like to speak with the owners and get this cleared up.

Breakfast was nice, and the pool was good. The staff were really friendly, and our room was clean. Just a nice place to stay all around.

The evening front desk man who checked us in was fantastic and helped us a lot. Our room, though, had a bunch of dog food under one of the beds, which was disappointing with a baby crawling around everywhere. The pool felt a bit cold, and the hot tub being out of service was a letdown.

We keep coming back to GrandStay because family lives in Perham and they recommended it. We’ve stayed three times, partly because there are so few hotels in town. The staff are great, but the $200 nightly price feels high for what you get. There’s no elevator, so bring a bag you can carry easily. The hotel and rooms look dated and need renovations, and the bed pillows are awful.
