Aloft by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown

The old bank building is a pretty cool feature, and the staff were courteous and very friendly. The place is generally well maintained, though a few spots look a little worn. My one real issue is the bedding: they use a top sheet, but no fitted sheet. That’s just how they do it here, but because of that I don’t think I’ll return to this hotel or stay at another aloft.

Being within walking distance of all my favorite places makes this one of my go-to hotels in the Philadelphia area. The rooms are always clean and well appointed, and everyone is friendly and helpful, including the valet attendants.

I’m only on the first night of a four-night stay, and I’ve been left sick with a high fever, soaked sheets, and a shower that only has freezing water. When I woke up feeling awful, I asked the staff politely for help. No one showed even basic concern or offered anything, not a kind word or a hot drink. They told me to wait outside my room for more than an hour, then said the problem was fixed. When I went back, nothing had changed and nobody had even been in the room. I’m back in the lobby now, still feverish and crying, and they won’t move me to another room or provide meaningful help. During a medical situation, there was no kindness or effort to accommodate me. If basic decency and service matter to you, this hotel falls short.

Sabria from Sales was wonderful. Other employees hadn’t been able to resolve my room accommodation request because of roles and permissions within the company, but she stuck with it and got it sorted out. It mattered a lot to me, and I’m really grateful for her dedication and great customer service.
