On my first morning, the water stopped while I was showering, at about 9:15 a.m. Sinks, toilets, and showers were all out for several hours. When I asked the front desk, all I got was that they were working on it and didn't know when it would be back. Another guest later said they couldn't wait to leave a hotel this terrible. By then, I knew I wasn't overreacting. My first room wasn't clean at all, with unmade beds and towels on the floor. I went back to the lobby and was assigned another room, which was fine. Still, the property looked run down: stained carpets, scuffed and marked walls, beat-up furniture, grime in the elevator door tracks, and only one working elevator. I could hear my neighbors through the walls, and the room smelled musty. I booked partly because of the airport shuttle. I returned my rental car the night before an early flight and took the shuttle back. The driver was helpful and polite, but the van dashboard showed four warnings: brake pads due for replacement, an oil change required, low tire pressure, and low wiper fluid. It added to my impression that the place isn't being maintained. I stay at a lot of Hilton properties, including Hampton Inns, and have been a loyal Hilton Honors customer for years. I've never written a review before this one. I'm shocked Hilton lets this property operate at such a low standard, and I won't stay at another Hampton Inn. I'm very disappointed. Hilton/Hampton, please don't reply with a generic apology. I've read plenty of reviews saying similar things, and it doesn't look like anyone is taking action to fix them.
It took a string of problems to push me to write this. I've dealt with bed bugs, power outages, and a storm that broke my room window, but I've never had such a poor hotel stay. The shuttle took over an hour to arrive, even after I called the front desk twice. The attendant kept their AirPods in and had trouble hearing me. My room was freezing at 63 degrees because the heating controls were broken. In the morning, I found the coffee maker's pod holder was missing. I went down for coffee and it was ice cold, like no fresh pot had been made since the previous afternoon. When I asked about it, the front desk just shrugged and said there was a microwave underneath. The rooms need serious attention: slapdash repairs, damaged carpet, stains, broken appliances, and missing amenities. See the photos for more detail. I can't in good conscience recommend this place. Hilton corporate needs to evaluate it quickly. I've been loyal to Hilton for nearly 20 years and Diamond for most of that time, with more than 900 nights at Hilton properties. It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review, and this fell far below standards. I hope it gets looked into soon.
I slept badly because I kept wondering whether the sheets had even been changed. The room felt gross and uncomfortable, and I regretted staying there. The desk had cigarette burns and bubbled patches that looked like another burn. The carpet was visibly dirty and stained, and the bathtub was rusty and unusable. The room's condition was appalling and well below an acceptable standard. Management clearly doesn't prioritize cleanliness or maintenance. They need major renovations, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Save your money and stay elsewhere.
The hotel was also pretty dirty and unkempt, and the way our reservation was handled was awful. We were driving cross-country and booked two nights through an online travel site while on the way to Philadelphia. Traffic kept us from arriving before midnight. When we tried to check in around 1 a.m., the front desk agent said she couldn't access our reservation because their system had reset at midnight. She told us we would have to book another room directly with the hotel, so, given the hour, we paid for a new reservation and expected it to be sorted out the next day. We asked repeatedly, both at the hotel and in the following months, but the company wouldn't refund the money or respond to our emails seeking a fair resolution. Hampton Inn calls and emails were no help either. They just sent us back to this franchise owner/operator, so the hotel got paid twice for our stay. Real nice. Avoid this place and find somewhere that respects its guests.
The management was cordial, but the airport van arrived late and the hotel lobby was filthy. If this were my property, I'd keep Chris and Mike, the manager, but get a new driver for the night shift. The driver had a bad attitude and gave poor service. My room smelled terrible, with a very pungent scent sprayed over the odor to cover it up. The shower was dingy and rusty around the drain, and the water kept shifting between hot and cold, mostly cold. Rooms need repairs, and the property is in bad shape. I stay in hotels three or four nights a week and haven't been somewhere this bad in a long time. I recommend staying elsewhere. This place doesn't deserve the Hampton/Hilton name.
