La Reserve on Pine

The continental breakfast was a fantastic spread: granola, hard-boiled eggs, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, tea, and plenty more. The blueberry pastries were the best! The room was as described, clean, and cozy, with a comfortable bed, A/C, an overhead fan, and what I noticed was a heating system too. When I called the keeper of La Reserve to say I'd bought a ticket on Booking, she was communicative and very helpful. She said she'd leave a light on for me, and she did. I was greeted kindly when I arrived. I'd definitely return because they make you feel like family and the price is right. Thanks to the keepers of La Reserve on Pine for a wonderful home away from home.

This isn't a request for special discounts. In other circumstances, I'd understand paying the full cancellation fee. But during a family emergency and then a state-of-emergency blizzard, the staff at La Reserve were incredibly kind and understanding. I couldn't make it to the workshop at all, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience during such a hard time. I WILL book here in the future so I can enjoy a stay at this kind and understanding place. I was meant to visit for a workshop, but the family emergency meant I had to cancel. Maria at the front desk was calm, patient, and sweet when I called. She said she'd talk to her manager about the late cancellation fee and get back to me. The usual fee was the full stay, but Maria told me they would charge at least half, which was very kind of them. Her manager, May, let Maria share her personal cell number, and May gave me wonderful advice when we spoke. I still planned to come despite the family emergency, but the blizzard made the trip impossible. I messaged May that I'd miss the first night, and she kindly comped it, understanding how severe the storm was. When I couldn't attend at all, she honored the earlier arrangement and charged only half the stay price.

A few spots could use a lick of paint, but that didn't bother us. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed, and the staff were friendly. This isn't a highly polished corporate chain hotel, which suited us just fine. We had a really good stay in a great part of town, with good restaurants just a stone's throw away. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I stayed one night in the Saratoga Executive Suite on the ground floor. It was clean, very spacious, and nicely decorated, with a kitchen, living area, restroom, bedroom, and lots of natural light in the bedroom. Breakfast was good and served in the adjacent building, where the dining area and hall were well decorated. The location was convenient. Maria at the concierge desk was very helpful too. Brittany, the innkeeper, deserves thanks for arranging this on check-in day. My original booking was at another Philadelphia property she also manages, for a room only with no breakfast. She let me know well in advance on the day of check-in that something had come up there, then offered either a full refund or an alternative at La Reserve: an executive suite with breakfast included. I really appreciated her taking responsibility and arranging the upgrade. I didn't have to scramble to find a place at the last minute.
