Mint House Philadelphia - Queen Village

The room itself was lovely, clean, and nicely furnished, with coffee and water included. But that came after a miserable check-in that took a few hours and about half a dozen calls. We spent ages trying to get into the locked building, and the staff were so disorganized and unhelpful that I thought it might be a scam and not a legitimate operation. Customer support said they were busy and had a lot of calls. This doesn't feel like a real hotel. It's more like an Airbnb with a host who's extremely hard to reach and unhelpful. I would give zero stars if I could.

The listing photos were very different from what I found. The furniture was in disarray, and the area felt dirty and dangerous. The towels were motel quality and wouldn't even absorb water. In the bathroom, the heater was exposed, and the insulation was broken and turned inside out. The stairway to the garage smelled of urine and homeless people. The punch code didn't work, and the email messages were cryptic and absurd, with no subject line. Add the low, depressing ceiling and fake wood hallway floor, and the whole place was terrible.

Around the corner from South Street, the location was great, and the room was clean. I had a great one-night stay and would come back. Check-in was a little confusing at first, but once we found the elevator past the front desk, getting upstairs was easy.

We had a wonderful stay and would happily come back. The studio was spotless and had a washer-dryer combo, and the location was fantastic.
