I split my time between Philly and Manhattan, and although my Manhattan coop is uppity, I love the Broderick much more. I've lived here almost a year and a half, and couldn't ask for more. It's wonderfully quiet, the people are nice, and the views of Independence Park are beautiful. There are lots of dogs, which I love, too. The front desk staff go out of their way to help, especially Simone. Brandon and the other maintenance people are phenomenal. Thank you, Broderick, for making me love Philadelphia.
Since moving in, everyday life here has been a living hell. I expect apartments above the first floor may be better, but I hear everything my neighbors do and smell their food every day. The apartment is old, the lights make noise, and there's a huge draft from the windows. The blinds don't cover the whole window, so it gets hotter in summer. There's no garbage shoot, the heavy door is hard to lock, and I have to go outside to collect any packages I order.
We were really interested in the Broderick, and all the positive reviews had made it our number one choice. But for the past month, my boyfriend and I, who aren't local, have tried countless times to reach them by phone and email. Calls cut off without anyone calling back, emails go unanswered, and we've left voicemails too. It's been exhausting, and this is by far the worst leasing office we've dealt with in Philly. I'm not sure how they have any tenants. Hopefully things improve in the future.
I moved into the building in 2015 and my current apartment in 2019. I just signed a three-year lease, so clearly I like it here and feel at home. The location is wonderful, the apartments are quiet, and people and dogs are friendly. Front desk staff are courteous and responsive, and maintenance and housekeeping are very good. I've only needed maintenance twice in four years. The building is over 100 years old, so problems do come up now and then, but they're addressed quickly.
