Comfort Inn Phoenix Central City

It’s right by I-10, yet the hotel was very quiet, clean, and well-run, and the facility was in very good shape. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is in a pretty bad part of town, but it’s convenient for the convention center and the price is reasonable. Given the area, I’d still recommend it.

The room was clean otherwise, and breakfast was decent. But the mattress was very worn, and the single-pane window facing I-10 let in a lot of highway noise. We picked this place for the “Jacuzzi and Pool,” only to find they were out of service.

The room had filthy curtains and a hole in the wall, but we didn’t complain because you get what you pay for. The check-in staff were great. The checkout experience was horrible, though. At 10:32am, I called from the room and asked for a late checkout because the shop wasn’t finished with our truck. The guy at the desk said checkout could be at 11:30am, and I said that was fine, even though regular checkout was 11am. Then at exactly 10:58am he came banging on our door like the police. We answered, confused, and he started threatening to call the police for no reason, despite our earlier conversation. I don’t know how it escalated that far. When I went out, there was nobody at the desk to ask what the problem was. I figured it’d be a waste of time, and he’d probably say he felt threatened because we are black, which is a common problem in America today. 0/5 stars. I don’t recommend this place because of that awful treatment and customer service.

The worst experience I’ve had. Housekeeping only comes every other day, and when I asked for clean towels, they said they didn’t have any. Front desk staff yelled at me and couldn’t explain the extra charges.
