DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Phoenix

The lobby looks nice, but beyond it the place feels run-down and grimy. The room furniture made me worry about cleanliness, and there were lots of people coming and going, loud parties, and noise. Our first room hadn’t even been cleaned. They moved us, but we could hear the people next door talking all night. There were broken bottles in the walkway, and at 2:30 in the morning people were hanging around the atrium looking pretty torn up. I didn’t feel safe or able to relax. It felt like a drug documentary crew might show up. The parking was expensive too. Maybe some of that money could go toward cleaning and fixing the place. If you’re looking for grime and a party spot, this is it. Anyone who gave it 5 stars was paid, works there, or doesn’t know what a clean hotel is.

The renovated rooms were clean, modern, and nicely decorated, and the distinctive design exceeded my expectations. I was there for one night in January 2026, choosing it for its proximity to the airport and reasonable reach of Tempe, where I was on business. I had no issues and was pleasantly satisfied, especially since my past stays with DoubleTree have been more misses than wins. There’s ample parking, and the airport shuttle is available. The restaurant looked good, but I didn’t eat or drink there. I didn’t use the amenities, though they appeared to be working and fairly well managed. I’d stay here again.

Serenity at the front desk was so kind and helpful, and made me feel at home with her warm welcome. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and had a friendly atmosphere. I also loved the breakfast buffet, which was delicious and a great start to each day. Wonderful stay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The front desk employee was pleasant and helpful, and the airport shuttle was convenient. Beyond that, the stay was terrible. There was a lot of hair stuck to the top sheet and what looked like used tissues on the chair, possibly blood or makeup. The room was filthy, the bathroom counter hadn’t been cleaned, and a strong foul odor made the bathroom uncomfortable to use. We’ve had consistently good stays at other DoubleTree properties, so this was especially disappointing. This location feels neglected and poorly managed, and it falls well short of the brand’s standards. The surrounding area didn’t feel safe or well kept either. The location is convenient for travel, but that’s about the only positive. Corporate needs to address the cleanliness and oversight. These weren’t minor problems, but a broader failure to meet basic standards.
