Hyatt Place Phoenix -North

The staff were nice, but the hotel itself was awful for the price and in a bad area. The pool was supposedly closed for remodeling, though it didn't look like any work was happening. The rooms felt dated and smelled moldy and old; the couch was worn and torn, and the carpet was stained. One desk looked like it had blood on it, though we were told it was red paint. When we tried to cancel before checkout and find a better hotel, they said we'd be charged for another night.

The rooms look worn out, with torn and stained things, a dim desk area, and a desk chair that's worn down from overuse. The towels feel like sandpaper and were changed every other day, if we were lucky. It even has the old window-unit temperature controls you might remember from cheap motels. The hotel posts a sign excusing the mess at the entrance, but the place has supposedly been “renovating” for two years without getting much done. Maintenance seems to have stopped. They've put money into the lobby to get people to check in, but the rooms tell another story. This place no longer meets Hyatt standards and should be removed from the brand.

The staff were friendly and professional, and the location was nice. Breakfast was very good, with fruit, eggs, sausage, bacon, tea, juice, oatmeal, and coffee. The room had plenty of space and was clean, with no pests that I noticed, though it could use updating. A microwave would help, but otherwise it was a very nice stay.

My friends and I were treated disrespectfully when we raised the obvious bed bugs in our room. Staff only moved us to another room that was also infested. We showed them photos and still got no real help. The “manager” was never available, and they ignored us instead of offering compensation, points, or anything to make it right. I spent hundreds of dollars and got bitten badly, then was treated like trash for asking them to address it. I'm incredibly disappointed. Never stay here.
