Metro Phoenix Extended Stay

We arrived to find a wet, smelly couch with stains, dirty and torn furniture, holes and rips in the walls, a broken door, and a toilet that kept clogging. The air conditioner filters were packed with lint and dust, and I felt we couldn’t use the AC because it was making us sick. I’ll attach pictures if I can, though the site won’t let me add them. The room was smaller and cheaper than the larger one I’d booked, and they wouldn’t refund the extra money we’d agreed on. They gave us one towel for four people. When I asked for more, I was told we had to wash it ourselves and wouldn’t get any additional towels. There wasn’t a single trash can anywhere, not even in the bathroom. The furniture looked like it might be cleaner if found in a dumpster. I’m considering sending the photos to the health department. Don’t bring your family here. Check-in was awful. I called five times before I got the door code, and the staff showed little concern even though I was there with three young children, one only 6 months old. They offered no fix, and apparently a refund needs GM approval. Room 1730 was filthy. There were live roaches in the dishwasher and dead ones in the closet and dining area. I also found a used condom wrapper on the sofa, a hair-covered comb in the living room, and a dirty bathroom. The bedroom TV didn’t work. Maintenance came, said cleaning rooms wasn’t his job, and only sprayed the dishwasher. I was extremely disappointed by the unhelpful, untrained staff and their excuses. Avoid this room, and be cautious with this hotel.

The $35 nonrefundable damage waiver they require after booking was already frustrating. We’d booked through Expedia, but after I complained, Expedia couldn’t reach the property despite several calls and emails. I eventually spoke to someone who said the manager had checked the room and found my complaints unfounded. We were so focused on getting out that I didn’t take pictures, which was a mistake. I plan to report the hotel for false advertising and scamming people. It’s a real disservice, and I hope this doesn’t happen to you. We’d driven all day, but after stepping inside our room, my daughter and I could barely breathe because of the awful smell. The sofa and window screen were ripped, the bed cover and sheets were stained, and the cover had cigarette burns. There were black patches on the ceiling, and the bathtub was black, dirty, and stained. We left immediately and reported it to the desk. One woman apologized, though she didn’t seem surprised when I asked for a refund. The outside and pool looked nice, but the pictures felt like false advertising, maybe they were accurate when the place was new. Please don’t book here.

The room was so dirty I couldn’t stay or sleep in it. Roaches were everywhere, the sheets, tables, and couch were dirty, and the bed smelled bad and hadn’t been cleaned properly. Drug users were hanging around the building, which made the stay feel unsafe. I left a couple of hours after check-in without unpacking or sleeping. This place needs a health inspection. Getting inside was a mess too. The room code didn’t work, so I waited outside for almost an hour before anyone showed up. They still struggled to fix it and wasted more of my time, with no urgency or apology. The online check-in system also kept failing when I tried to choose the refundable deposit, leaving me feeling pushed into the nonrefundable option. That should be made clear. Booking here was a huge mistake, and I regret not reading the reviews first. It’s not worth the money or the stress.
