We could put up with the thin walls, the train shaking things, and the neighborhood having all kinds of people around. What we couldn't get past was the room. The walls, floorboards, furniture, and pretty much everything had years of grime built up. There were what we called “whiskers” on the plastic bathroom fixtures, and the toilet handle kept falling off. Then, when we were leaving for the airport at 4 a.m., the toilet overflowed and flooded the bathroom floor. The sheets were stained, and the blanket was clearly unwashed, with dog hair and bits of fuzz and other debris stuck to it. My friend and I booked at the last minute after another hotel, advertised as dog-friendly, wouldn't take our dog. We were looking for somewhere close to the airport. A few minutes after we arrived, several police cars showed up and arrested a guest. That felt in keeping with the rest of the experience. My friend dealt with the staff, who I assume were fine. We both left feeling gross. We were exhausted after driving for 10 hours and had already had to abandon our planned destination, so we stayed, but under different circumstances we definitely wouldn't have.

The TV kept losing service, and there was no internet despite it being advertised. I asked to speak with the manager, but the front desk clerk got angry and said the manager would be there the next day. Nobody showed up, and they gave me no way to contact the manager or get a discount. The first room smelled of cigarettes, and the replacement room did too. When I asked to switch again, the clerk got angry and said all the rooms smelled bad. Do not stay here.

The staff were really nice and the service was great. Still, I wouldn't stay here unless I had to. The location and the other guests made it feel very unsafe. Someone propositioned me for sex before I even reached my room, and there was audible violence coming from the room upstairs.

From the parking lot to the office and the rooms, this was one of the cleanest, best-kept, best-smelling Motel 6s I've stayed at. I was impressed. I also want to thank the woman who answered my early-morning call. I was stranded with nowhere to go and no idea what I'd do until check-in later that day. Her tone, energy, and manner made a big difference. She let me know I had options and didn't have to sit outside in the heat until 3 or 4 p.m. She really saved me.

I was pleasantly surprised by the stay so far. The room had a strong chemical-cleaner smell, like a hospital, which gave me the feeling no bugs could live there. The bed is decent for a 6, and the Wi-Fi gave me almost 8K video resolution. Parking was nearly empty while it was still daylight, and I hadn't seen any suspicious homeless activity or drug deals, at least not yet. It was $118 all in with no deposit, and the location doesn't seem bad. I saw the five-star reviews mentioning Rubi by name and figured the place had been cleaned up. Looks like that assumption was right. Rubi was a little distracted by her kid on the phone, but she multitasked well and check-in was fast.
