Motel 6 Phoenix East

My cousin and aunt found roaches crawling on the walls as soon as they turned on the lights. I'd booked the room for them for one night. The front desk said someone would come “take care of it,” but didn't offer to move them. Were they going to fumigate the room? My family left, and I had to scramble to find them another place as they drove across Phoenix. I found one, but I still haven't been refunded, so I'm out the cost of two hotels. There has been no manager available when I call, nobody has called me back, and when I asked to speak with a manager, the clerk yelled at my cousin and me. Guest relations finally emailed after a week with a $20 credit for the $130 room. That's not acceptable. Please stay far away from this location. In response, I've already contacted guest relations and the hotel. The hotel won't call me back, and guest relations offered that $20 credit, which they said would take six weeks to arrive. I don't know who else to contact except to keep posting reviews about what happened.

For a cheap room that does the job, this may be fine. The staff were good, it was quiet enough, and both availability and price worked for me. But the room wasn't as clean as I'd like: I noticed a hair here and there, the towels were stained and definitely not clean, and I heard the sheets weren't much better, though mine were okay. The whole room needs a better clean, especially the towels. Wi-Fi is listed, but the old-looking “temporarily not available” notice at the front desk makes it seem like it's been down a long time. If cleanliness matters a lot to you, you may find a better option. You get what you pay for.

It's enough if all you need is a bed for the night, but this is a very old motel with poorly maintained rooms. Mine did have a mini fridge, though there's no microwave or laundry. The bathroom was awful, lots of things were broken, and the service wasn't great. The area was fairly quiet, but $90 to $120 a night in March felt way too expensive for what you get. It really needs a full renovation.

We booked two rooms for three nights. Our first room was so smoky I couldn't breathe, so we checked other rooms and moved. The room we chose needed a lot of work, and the bath was filthy. Our friend's second room seemed okay when we arrived, though it was in the same worn condition and also needed a complete overhaul. We were away for a couple of hours, and when we got back, there was a terrible cat urine smell. We asked the cleaning lady about it, and she said it came from the room next door. We left early the next morning. I took pictures inside. It's bad.
