Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass

The stay was relaxing and we felt well looked after, with great service at every turn. The property is beautiful, and the pool has a fun slide for kids. Hats off to the women taking orders around the pool in 95-degree weather. They were terrific.

The room was spotless, new, and beautifully decorated, and we loved the pool setup. There were lots of chairs and umbrellas, it wasn’t packed, and the gradual beach-like entries were lovely. Service at the pool was excellent too. Our favorite experiences were “echos with ancestors” at the fire circle and “connecting with horses.” Our little girl loved both, and we enjoyed them as a family. The staff throughout the hotel were wonderful. The big letdown was dining. We stay at resorts because we have a young child and want to remain on site, but after trying three of the four restaurants, we had disappointing meals at each. Service was okay, but the food was unpalatable. We’re not picky eaters, so having to leave to find decent food was a real disappointment. Our daughter’s age meant we couldn’t go to KAI, so I can’t speak to that restaurant. Sheraton, please improve the food and we’ll definitely come back.

I wouldn’t count on Marriott status getting you much at this property. As a Gold Elite member, I was eligible for either an upgrade or late checkout, subject to availability, but on both visits the front desk person simply turned me down without checking. I called the Marriott loyalty line, and they asked the manager to look again. The request was approved right away. I appreciate that, but it shouldn’t take all that back and forth for a basic benefit we work toward earning.

Everyone here is so kind, and the bar has a great atmosphere with craft cocktails and live music. I come to this resort when I want to relax. The rooms are nice, the service is top notch, and there are four pools. I do wish there were an adults-only or quiet pool. The pool food is amazing, especially the Mahi Mahi, and I highly recommend the Arizona Mai Tai or pina colada.
