Sleep Inn Phoenix North I-17

The hotel was being remodeled during my stay, and I wish I'd known before booking. A note on the website would have helped. It also doesn't offer the hot breakfast the site advertises. The waffle maker is the only hot item.

I stayed the full week and had a great time. The price fit my budget, and the location worked for me, so I'll plan to stay at this Sleep Inn again. The lobby and rooms were clean and very nice. There was some remodeling, but the work happened after the 11 am checkout time. Everyone on staff I dealt with was friendly, checked in about my stay, and made sure I had what I needed.

Do not stay here. As I'm writing this, a baby cricket is crawling across the floor. The room numbers are on the floor by the doors, the TV has no channels, and breakfast is a bust: a muffin, toast, cereal, and malt-o-meal. The owner's a terrible employer, and she knows what's going on. Underpaid employees are left to handle complaints and angry customers. I've tried for years to keep my status and use this hotel chain, but I was treated better before becoming platinum. I don't recommend Choice Hotels.

We decided we couldn't stay, but the front desk refused to refund our money. There was no apology or accountability. Homeless people gathered outside the property, which made the whole situation feel less safe. The lobby was the one decent part and nearly convinced me the rest of the hotel might be passable. Beyond it, things went downhill quickly. Wires were hanging out of the elevator, and the hallways looked neglected, with disgusting carpet and paint splatters on the walls, as if a renovation had been abandoned years ago. The room was worse: a wet spot on the bed that I don't want to speculate about, and a visibly dirty bathtub floor. Room numbers in the hallway were hanging off walls or scribbled on pieces of tape. The door to our room wouldn't close properly behind us. We had to force it shut to feel at all secure. This place needs serious maintenance, management oversight, and basic cleanliness and security standards. I'd look elsewhere unless you want to waste money and feel uncomfortable.
