The hotel’s location by the east access road of I-17 means you have to plan your way in and out of the parking lot a bit, but that’s a minor hassle. I’d stay again. Our studio suite worked great, and the kitchen had more than we needed: a full-size fridge, two-burner stove, microwave, and dishwasher. The hotel is somewhat dated but clean and comfortable. The bathroom exhaust either wasn’t on or didn’t work, so it got excessively foggy and wet during showers. The pool and jacuzzi had water in them but were roped off. The desk clerk kept saying they should be available “tomorrow.”

I had a great extended stay at Sonesta Simply Suites Phoenix Glendale. The staff and managers were friendly, helpful, and professional, and extending my stay and paying by the week was easy and stress-free. The place felt safe and welcoming, and the rates were reasonable for what you get. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with a full-size fridge, stove, sink, dishwasher, and a nice shower and bath. Amenities worked well for short or long stays: there’s a laundry room, gym, pool, and a dog waste station that’s handy for pet owners. I’d highly recommend it whether you’re in town briefly or staying longer.

Everything smelled terrible. My husband and I walked into the hotel and were hit by a strong, really off smell. The hallway carpets were stained and stinky, and it seemed like they were trying to cover it with lots of Febreze or something. Everything looked very old. The room had a smell like a dying skunk, with an oniony old-armpit odor that seemed to have seeped into everything. The living room carpet was black and brown, and disgusting. I didn’t feel comfortable lying on the bed or sitting on the couch, so I stood while we ate dinner that night. The bed did seem fairly clean, thankfully, and I checked for bedbugs but didn’t see any. I had booked four days, but asked for a full refund after the first 12 hours. I’d never stay here again unless it was absolutely my last choice. Even then, I might sleep in my car.

The stay was horrible, and the smell alone wasn’t worth the price. The rooms had a horrible odor, almost like food had been left to rot. I asked the front desk to change rooms, but they said everything was booked and did nothing. There was vomit on the hallway floor, and a dog in one of the rooms barked all night. I’m not sure pets were even allowed. If you’re after a disgusting, bad-smelling hotel that feels like a total rip-off, this is the place. Trust me, you’ll want to get out as fast as you can.
