I've never had a problem here, and it's one of the two places where I regularly rent a room. As an Arizona native, I know the area, and while the rumors and activity may make it seem less than ideal, I've found it a good place to rest in peace. There are a few sketchy people around, but they'll leave you alone if you leave them alone. The locked area for cars is a useful upgrade, and you can only enter it with your key. The fridge and microwave have always worked, the hot water is truly hot, and the rooms are nice. Water pressure could be better. The front desk staff have always been courteous and accommodating. You can't always judge a book by its cover.

Someone from upstairs woke me at 2am asking if I'd seen their puppy, which felt disrespectful. The area also seemed very sketchy, with lots of homeless people around. As soon as I entered the room, I noticed a bad smell of smoke and something else. The floor and stained sheets were dirty, and there was hair on the bed. I saw roaches in the shower and on the bedroom floor. The towel bar was broken and hanging out of the wall.

The room was in surprisingly good shape for a low-cost motel. The bathroom looked recently redone and was very clean, the old AC worked well, and the towels and sheets were clean. There was also a small fridge and microwave, and the TV had enough channels for me. It was quiet on the property, though the surrounding area felt a little sketchy. I was passing through after a delivery and just needed somewhere to shower and rest for a few days. I thought my booking had been paid through Flex Pay on their site, but the woman at the desk said they don't take it, so I paid out of pocket. As a Wyndham member I asked about the usual 1 p.m. late checkout, but was told this motel handles that differently. They did let me stay until noon, which worked for me. I'd come back, though I wouldn't recommend it to families or women traveling alone because of the area.

We left in a hurry. The room smelled strongly of urine and another chemical odor that gave us headaches and even caused a bloody nose. It was filthy, with cigarette holes in the bedding, visible blood on the pillows, and what looked like bed bugs. The AC was broken, and the room phone didn't work. The surroundings also felt very unsafe. We saw apparent prostitution and drug activity nearby, heard there had been two shootings, a stabbing, and a fight on the property while we were there, and had been told there would be two night security guards, but there weren't any. When we raised these concerns, the owner refused a refund and handled it very unprofessionally. There was no apparent concern for cleanliness, guest safety, or basic service. The online photos of the Super 8 in Phoenix are extremely misleading and don't reflect the rooms we saw. I strongly urge people to stay somewhere else.

We didn't return after the surgery because the room had been so uncomfortable. I called the front desk six times at different hours, starting at 6 in the morning, to let them know, but nobody answered. We knew we wouldn't get our money back for the second night, but wanted to tell them we weren't coming back. They replied to my review, but seemed not to have read it, since their response talked about breakfast and TV channels, which I hadn't mentioned. We'd been spoiled by the Super 8 in Avondale, and this place felt like a dive. There were homeless people and drug users right outside, the rooms were bare, the towels were extremely thin, and there wasn't even a bedside lamp. Although ours was a nonsmoking room, the bedspread and mirror frame had cigarette burns. I needed two showers before surgery the next day and there was no hot water. Do not stay here.
