My husband and I chose The Global Ambassador for our elopement weekend, and the stay was incredible. Every staff member we met was exceptional. Luke and Rigo took especially good care of us, and everyone at Le Àmé, especially Juliet, gave flawless service. Tatum also deserves a big thank you. She made the whole visit feel magical, shared spectacular ideas for dining and activities, and went above and beyond to show us the luxury hospitality of this one-of-a-kind hotel.

Lyle really made the visit with his knowledge, professionalism, and thoughtful service. You can tell he wants guests to have a good time. The whole place has a welcoming, carefully put-together feel, and the staff made it feel luxurious without being uncomfortable. I love the atmosphere at The Global Ambassador and can’t wait to come back.

We come here pretty often for the restaurants, and thèa is our usual pick. The Mediterranean food is really good, and the rooftop sunset views over the city are great. The Global Ambassador has a classy, lively feel and is a popular place for a night out around Phoenix/Scottsdale. Valet and dinner can make it an expensive evening, but I think the experience is worth it. I haven’t stayed at the hotel because it’s a little pricey, though I’ve heard it’s great for a special occasion.

The part that’s hard to get past is the bill. About a month ago, a friend and I came for drinks and asked the bartender to suggest some of their best whiskeys. He named a few, and we chose one. It was served over a rock and tasted delicious. Then the check arrived: the two drinks together were over $2,300. We weren’t told the price beforehand. I understand we asked for something high-end, but a clear heads-up or discreet price note would have let us decide whether to order it. The next day I called management, hoping they might understand or be willing to negotiate. They said the price was final and nothing could be done. Their explanation was that quoting prices could make patrons uncomfortable. In this case, leaving the price unsaid made things much worse. I’ve always admired the Grand Ambassador. It’s a stunning property with an elegant atmosphere, and the staff have generally been friendly and professional. It’s one of my favorite places to visit in AZ, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I still think highly of the hotel, but it damaged my trust. I hope management is more upfront about premium drink prices so another guest doesn’t have to go through this.

The way this venue applies its dress code felt inconsistent and left us uncomfortable. After we left, we looked up the posted rules: no sandals, hats, baggy clothing, or excessive attire. Yet we had seen guests admitted in hats, sandals, baggy clothes, jerseys, and hoodies. While we waited, people in spaghetti strap dresses, short dresses, tube tops, skirts, and cut-out styles were also let in, including as more guests arrived. My friends and I, all people of color, had a reservation. Some of them had visited before without a problem. At the reservation line, a staff member asked if we had a reservation, then Diego, who was handling reservations, said we couldn’t come in because we were “out of dress code.” Our confirmation said nothing about a dress code, and my friends hadn’t been told about one on earlier visits. We politely asked who specifically was out of dress code so we could go home, change, and return. Diego wouldn’t say. We asked where to find the rules and what we should wear next time, but he kept saying we could “look online” and that he “couldn’t say.” When we asked how decisions were made, he said it was based on “discretion,” which concerned us, so we asked for a manager. We explained to the manager that our issue wasn’t simply being turned away. We wanted to know what specifically violated the rules so we could avoid the problem next time. The manager couldn’t give us a clear answer, saying, “I’m not a fashion designer,” and offered no meaningful explanation or apology. If a venue has policies, they should be applied equally. Vague decisions based on “discretion,” with no transparency or accountability, make for an unfair experience. My friends and I won’t be returning, and I’d recommend spending your money elsewhere. I’d give the place zero stars if I could, but it gets one.
