The hotel is outdated and needs remodeling. After I checked in, I went to my assigned room, 108, and started putting my things away. Then I noticed what looked like mold on the bathroom ceiling. I called the front desk, and he told me to take pictures. I did and showed them to him, but he said it was paint. It clearly looked like mold, so they moved me to room 211. The internet didn’t work, the freezer was full of ice, the microwave didn’t work properly, and the carpets were dirty throughout the hotel. I’ve never stayed in a hotel this horrible. It’s a health hazard. I told them not to assign that room to anyone else until they removed the mold, but they didn’t seem concerned about their customers’ welfare. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed. I wanted to go home, and I’m going to ask for a refund.

Breakfast was about what I expected at Springfield, though the tea selection was pretty limited. The room itself smelled strongly musty, and the tub looked dirty enough that I paused before using it. There was also a worrying electrical problem: the outlet by the sink crackled and gave off smoke. Worn, dirty carpets added to the impression that upkeep was lacking. Fine for a quick night, maybe, but I expected better maintenance and quality control from a Marriott.

We came to Phoenix to move my granddaughter into an apartment in 106° weather, and this place was easy to reach right off the freeway. The staff were very nice. On our first night, the smoke alarm started whining. I thought it was the TV until I called the desk. The young man there came up right away, recognized the alarm, got batteries, and replaced them quickly. I think his name was Travis? He was kind about the whole thing. I missed him the next morning, but I hope management passes along how much I appreciated his help.

The trundle was filthy, with urine stains on its mattress pad, and there weren't any sheets for it. The freezer wasn't making ice and had stains. The carpet was nasty too. Service wasn't great, and I had to go to the front desk just to get toilet paper. I won't be coming back to this location.
