Travelers Inn

The room had some basic pluses: parking was easy, there were plenty of food spots and convenience stores within walking distance, and we had a mini fridge, hot water, and decent water pressure. But there were roaches, a cigarette smell, and plenty of other problems. I killed one as soon as we arrived, then three more over our two nights. I didn’t feel okay leaving toiletries out. The yellow, warm lights made the room feel dark and gloomy. Of all the outlets, only the one by the bathroom sink worked. The others were either broken without outlet covers or so loose my charger wouldn’t stay plugged in. We came to visit a friend and wanted a cheap place to crash while spending the day out. At 6:30 p.m. there was a line out the door to check in, which seemed odd. I picked it for the pool, spa, and low pet fee, but they gave us only one key for several guests. The WiFi only worked in the lobby, and staff didn’t explain that until we went to the desk in person after calling several times and trying the password they gave us. We were also told over the phone the pool closed at 10, but when we got there, we found it closed at 9. That was a bust. The pool was 76 degrees and the hot tub 73, neither enjoyable. The bathroom and sink drains had no stoppers, so small things could go right down. The bathroom door had been painted so many times it wouldn’t stay shut, and we had to wedge a towel against it. There was a towel rack but no clothes hangers. The sheets were stained and too short to cover you properly, the bed dipped a little in the middle, and the towels were thin, rough, and scratchy. The pillows were so flat I used all four and still barely felt propped up. The soap dried out my skin. There was just one trash can, in the bathroom, and only blackout curtains, so getting privacy meant keeping the room dark. The deadbolt didn’t work; the only extra lock was the latch on the inside. I don’t know the area, but it seemed a bit rough. Families were playing with water balloons in the lot, barbecuing, and washing vehicles with hoses attached to the property. The sheets and room made the stay uncomfortable, and I wouldn’t come back.

For what it cost, it was fine. The bed was clean and comfortable enough, the customer service did the job, and the pool looked nice and clean. There were a few stains around, but that seemed in line with the price. I would’ve liked to park closer to our room, though we arrived late and took the spot available. No big deal.

The room was pretty rough, with stains on the covers, walls, floor, toilet, and sinks. Mine was listed as nonsmoking but smelled like smoke, and the TV didn’t work. Check-in was easy and the woman was nice. There weren’t really any amenities. The location wasn’t bad, and it was cheap for a last-minute trip, but I’ll find somewhere nicer when I’m back.

The front desk was friendly and cancelled my room without a problem, which is why I’m giving the service three stars. The motel itself was a one-star experience. My first room had no sheets, smelled like weed, and had a handprint of lube on the headboard. The second smelled as strongly of smoke as any room I’ve ever been in. I also saw a guy bring what I assume was a lady of the night into the room next door, along with a stray cat. It felt like something out of Breaking Bad. Don’t even think about staying here.
