Vacation Inn Phoenix

My husband and I had a pleasant stay. The room was clean and had no bugs, the bathroom was stocked, and the shower had great hot water. The TV and bed linens were great too, and there were no bed bugs. There weren’t many shady characters around, and no one seemed to be living in the hotel. There’s no breakfast service, but for the price, what can you expect? I don’t know why some other reviewers are so down on the place. It’s pretty good.

The neighborhood was awful. People approached me several times asking for money, to use my phone, and for drugs. Inside, there was mold everywhere and roaches. I had no pillows, and when I called for some, they said only housekeeping could get them. First they told me housekeeping came in at 7:30 a.m., then, when I called at 7:30, the story changed to 10 a.m. They sprayed the room, but the roaches came back after one night. My blankets had holes, several fire alarms were hanging off the walls, and light bulbs were missing. There was only one working outlet in the whole room. I’d never stay there again or recommend it, especially to families with kids.

We left early because the stay was terrible. There were bugs and roaches, the room smelled musty, and the curtains were old and torn. The beds were awful. There were two fitted sheets, and the bottom one was stained. We were in a nonsmoking area, yet there were cigarette burns on the bed. I told the receptionist, who kept saying she’d talk to the manager, though I doubt she did. Another guy was complaining about his room too.

The room was filthy and smelled like urine, and the bed felt like a cot on the floor. The frame on the sliding glass door was coming off. They charged me an extra $25 to check in early even though the room was ready. Then a clerk got into a physical fight with a couple of guests in a full lobby and sprayed mace at them, leaving me choking on it. She threw things over the counter at the people she was fighting with. She should have walked away and called the police. I got my money back and left.
