Music Road Resort Hotel and Inn

The heated pools were nice, though we barely got to use them because we were short on time. It looked like the hot tub was still under construction or being remodeled, which was a little disappointing. We’d never heard of this hotel and hesitated to book, but it turned out better than the well-known chain hotels we’ve stayed in. The hot breakfast was good, the river view was worth paying a bit extra for, and the hotel sits just off the main road on a quiet little street. We also liked the decor and cozy feel.

We needed to extend one staff member’s stay by a night, but they made him check out, carry his things across the street, and check into the other side of the hotel. The location is decent, with easy access to restaurants and activities, but I wouldn’t host a large event here if you want guests and staff to have a good experience. The venue feels dated and lacks amenities we’ve seen at other places, including much cheaper ones. The rooms looked like they were last updated in the early 1990s. TVs were small, had no streaming, and there were no charging ports. Staff seemed more concerned about how we might inconvenience them than with basic hospitality. They were rude from the start, even before anyone entered the venue, then disappeared after taking our payment. We work in events and hospitality and deal with a lot of hotels and venues. This was by far our worst experience in a long time, and I won’t book another event here.

The location is good, and the rooms are nice, though dated. The TV was so quiet that we could barely hear it with the volume turned up. Most of the service was good: the maintenance man was very nice, and housekeeping did a good job keeping us supplied with towels. Two women at the front desk were rude when we checked in. The real disappointment was breakfast. This was our ninth stay, and we had no idea they’d stopped including it. They now charge $15 per person, kids included, and we didn’t think it was even that good. For the nightly price, breakfast should be included. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have booked. There are other hotels nearby at the same price with indoor and outdoor pools and breakfast included. We won’t be back unless Music Road Resort brings breakfast back.

The towels were soft and fluffy, the two sinks were handy, and breakfast was tasty. The rest of the room was pretty underwhelming compared with the ad photos. It needs updating: there were hardly any accessible outlets, no USB charging spots, flat pillows, and the blanket felt like a scratchy old Army blanket. The front desk staff didn’t know much and couldn’t answer our questions. If the fancy outside and decorative lobby are what you’re counting on to be the best part of a stay, Music Road Resort delivers exactly that.
