Riverchase Lodge

The location is good, but the room was nasty and the floor was soaked. When I complained, they said they already knew about it. Walking to the bathroom meant getting wet socks every time, which was gross. After I contacted the company I booked through, River Chase agreed to refund me. But once that company reached River Chase, they denied it. I called and was told I couldn't speak to the manager and wouldn't get a refund. I should've gotten the promise in writing. Lesson learned, even though people in this area are usually kind and honest.

The room had such a musty smell, and the bathtub had a hole about the size of a baseball in the bottom, so we couldn't use the shower. I told the woman at the front desk, and she apologized, but didn't offer a discount for the inconvenience. That left me disappointed. At least my first check for bed bugs came up clear, which matters most to me. Our booked room's keys wouldn't work. A nice gentleman at the front desk tried to help, then moved us to another room when he couldn't fix them. I worried that room wasn't meant to be used. We didn't get a chance to try the pool, though it looked fun. The place has potential, but really needs some care, especially new furniture and mattress covers. I did like the thin, warm, cute bed quilts.

The cleaning lady kept walking past all three rooms, looking in the windows to “clean” them, even after I said we'd be leaving at 11. She kept coming back to rush us and was extremely rude. At 10, an hour before checkout, all three room keys stopped working, so we had to prop the doors open to get back inside. We booked three rooms for my sister's 21st birthday. In two of them the shower knobs didn't work, and none of the rooms were very clean: there was trash from previous customers, and the showers, microwave, and tables hadn't been cleaned. The pool was extremely dirty, you could barely see the bottom, and it smelled awful. There was mold on the slide, rust and mold on the ceiling, and water dripping from it into the pool. Don't stay here. The price is low for a reason, and I don't know how they're still open.

There was a major leak above us, with water falling onto our cars. A maintenance man went upstairs to check it and let himself into a couple's room while they were naked and showering. He also walked straight into the driver-side mirror of my mother-in-law's brand-new car. The pools had mold, too. During our Family Christmas vacation in 2025, we found cockroaches and bed bugs, and slept in a bed with dirty sheets that had been urinated in. We told the front desk clerk, who said to leave the lobby. He called the cops, saying I was “irate” and “wouldn't leave.” We were told we could either hand over all the keys after packing and leave immediately, or stay in the disgusting, unsafe, unsanitary room and get out of the lobby. The clerk said we'd get a refund if we left him alone and stayed out of the lobby. The police said he'd done this quite often and waited to see what would happen. I'm glad they did, because the clerk came to our room banging on the door with a metal baton and told us to leave. The police told him to stop harassing us or face legal consequences. This used to be a great place, but I'll never stay here again.
