Rusty at the front desk made us feel welcome from the start. He was incredibly friendly, clearly loves his job, and went out of his way for us. We also had fun relaxing while Vicky drove around with the margarita cart serving drinks. She was sweet and made us feel welcome, too. There was so much to do, and the food at Fins was great and convenient. After six years of camping, this was the best campground stay we've had. We can't wait to come back.
My kids saw this place and said, 'mommy we gotta go,' so I looked into it for a future Smokies trip. If you want breakfast every day, this may not be the place: breakfast is only offered at certain times and on certain days, and you have to pay for it. A four-night stay would cost about $1500 for a basic room, plus the daily fee. For that price and fee, I feel they should at least include breakfast every day. Extra activities like bowling cost extra too. I'm not posting this to bash Margaritaville lodge and campsite, just hoping it helps someone planning a vacation.
The dog-friendly setup was a big plus, and they even have a dog supper menu. We spent Christmas week here, and the holiday atmosphere made it memorable while we were moving from the West to the East for our new home as a military family. We were missing many usual family traditions this year, but staying here made Christmas feel special. Colby helped us make s'mores by the fire pit, Lily and Seth at Fin’s were warmly hospitable, and Rusty and the rest of the front staff were incredible. Every detail exceeded what we expected.
The night security guard was so helpful when we needed to take our dog out at 3am. The staff showed so many kind gestures, and Rusty was wonderful with our family. He cares about everyone who comes through the door. I hope you get to meet him if you stay here. Such a great visit with amazing staff.
The grounds are beautiful, there's lots to do, and the game area feels endless. The staff really make the place, everyone went out of their way to help. We liked the breakfast buffet, the music, and the clean pool, which give it a fun vibe. Ending the night by the fire with free s'mores was a treat. It's spacious and dog-friendly, too. My only suggestion is to bring a phone flashlight for walks after dark, since the paths are very dim.
