Merrynook

Merrynook was easily the best place we stayed during our four-and-a-bit-week whirlwind trip around the US. The cabin felt welcoming and was furnished with real thought. The owners were easy to communicate with and accommodated a few last-minute changes we needed. We really loved our time there.

My daughter and I had such a good stay at Merrynook, especially enjoying the quiet outdoor space and piano after hiking. I grilled outside with her, and that peaceful time was a much-needed break from everyday bustle. The cabin was clean, spacious, and adorable, and it made a great base for our Kings Canyon trip, about 15 minutes from the park entrance. Mahalia answered my questions and was lovely to meet when we arrived. She also mentioned a beautiful waterfall just around the corner, a short quarter-mile walk away. Merrynook is a hidden gem right by Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. I've found my go-to place and would definitely recommend it.

This was one of our favorite rentals. The owners turned an old restaurant into a cozy mountain cabin near King’s Canyon National Park, filling it with books, music, art, and playful creative touches that we found fun and inspiring. The beds were extremely comfortable, and having a full kitchen was great. We also appreciated the washer and dryer, which saved us a laundromat trip. On our early spring visit, we spent the days on the porch and patio, then warmed up inside by the wood-burning stove. The owners have made it a peaceful place to leave feeling rested and refreshed.

We stayed four days, and some of them had bad weather. It was still a great cabin to be in when the weather didn't cooperate. The owner was nice, too. We'd recommend it and would stay there again when we're in the area.
