Sandcastle Hotel on the Beach

We checked in yesterday for our 40th wedding anniversary and only found out today that there'd be construction on the floor above us. It's insanely loud, from morning until 6 pm, and we weren't warned at all. We're here until Thursday, and my husband is in a wheelchair, so we're spending more time in the room. This was meant to be a special week and a splurge. If we'd been told, we would have chosen somewhere else. It's very unprofessional and rude. The front desk says the manager can't be reached until tomorrow. How would the GM feel if this were their own getaway? Seriously disappointed.

I love the oceanfront rooms and sleep with the screen door open so I can hear the waves and birds. The sunsets!!!!!! So perfect!!!! They said updates to the rooms are currently underway. The location is great, but customer service needs work. The floor staff are much nicer than the front desk. Ricky in particular was professional, put together, and well mannered. My friend was told by the general manager that she could come up at 7am to rent a bike, and when she asked if she could come earlier, he said someone would just need to uncover the bikes. The next morning, about 15 minutes before 7, with daylight outside, Valerie at the desk wouldn't let her take a bike until “the sun is All the way up”. My friend explained she'd already asked the general manager, but Valerie denied her and said the general manager “doesn’t know”. Then my friend caught Valerie talking about her to another employee. Very unprofessional. If they put friendlier people up front, this place would be highly recommended. Location and views alone aren't enough.

We only stayed one night at the Sandcastle, but it was a relaxing, enjoyable visit with a laid-back feel. The room was really nice and had all the amenities I wanted, including a refrigerator and coffee service. We also ate breakfast at The Deck patio restaurant. There were great options, the food was good, and having it right there was super convenient. Breakfast was the only meal we had there.

We picked this hotel for our anniversary and had a great stay. The staff were attentive, and our room was roomy and very clean. Being right on the beach with lots of good restaurants nearby made the location ideal. There’s also a little restaurant and bar serving tasty food and drinks. We’ll definitely come back.
