I’m in a queen suite now, with a pullout sofa. It’s roomier than the first room, though less up to date, as you’d expect from a traditional suite. It’s very clean, but there are cigarette burns on the couch pillows and some of the smoke smell seems to linger. I’m used to smokers and it doesn’t bother me, though it might bother other people. The first night, my reserved room with two full beds was given to another guest who was having problems. I was moved to a premium queen room instead. The man at the front desk explained the mix-up right away and said they could change rooms the next day. That premium room was clean, had lots of storage, and was really nice, but being right beside the front desk meant hearing people in the lobby all night. The place seems nice and steady, and I’d stay here again.

Jordan the GM is great with customer service, and Tara is lovely and nice to me while doing hksp. Jay, the overnight guy, is always walking around and available, and Dale from maintenance is awesome. The staff do their best to keep things safe and clean, and they’re quick to help when you need something. I love this place. It used to be a lot worse, and now it feels like my home away from home.
The staff and manager were very friendly, but I paid to have some peace and didn’t get it. I already had to change rooms once. A family above me kept running and jumping on the hardwood floor until 1 a.m., then started again at 7 and woke me up. I’m assuming it was the parents yelling too. I’ll never come back. If you need peace of mind, avoid this place like the plague.
If you need a cheap, decent place, this could work. I needed somewhere affordable for the last two weeks of my contract, and it was a pretty good deal with a decent amount of space. Just know they don’t provide kitchen supplies or toiletries. I work nights and had 16-hour shifts, so housekeeping waking me was a problem. I sleep with white noise and noise-cancelling headband earphones, but didn’t hear them until they tried to bust in. Housekeeping also wasn’t great: they let you inspect the room, and it looked clean at first, but there were things left in the cabinets and plenty of dust. They told me check-in wasn’t available after 6:30 or 7 p.m., though I arrived right at the cutoff and was able to check in. There’s no desk staff after 7 or before 11.
The location is good, and the no.12 bus runs into Pittsburgh every half hour. But when I arrived with all my luggage, reception was closed and I had to call someone down. The man who came was smoking indoors and wearing a tracksuit. He told me they don’t check in on Sundays and had no clean room for me anyway, despite my reservation for that exact date and time. I had nowhere else lined up, and was lucky the amazing McKnight Hotel next door could take me in. I wouldn’t have felt safe staying somewhere that smelled like weed after being treated that way. I’d recommend McKnight Hotel next door instead.
