Shadyside Inn All Suites Hotel

My first year in Pittsburgh has been a much less stressful rental experience because I chose an apartment with Shadyside at Home. The rent is reasonable, and the properties are well maintained. Things can go wrong in an apartment, but maintenance gets on them right away and fixes them properly. The team is capable and efficient, and the sidewalks get shoveled and salted as soon as it snows. Bandy and Mariena are both lovely to deal with and reply quickly whenever I email. The staff also go above and beyond with maintenance and other issues that come up. I know rental horror stories are common with other companies, but this one seems to understand property management. I'd happily recommend them to anyone looking for an easy rental experience.

The walls were the main downside for me. You can hear almost everything from neighboring apartments, and management put up passive-aggressive “quiet reminders” in the hallways that felt patronizing and a bit like dorm life. I lived at Shadyside at Home Apartments while in grad school and mostly enjoyed it. The apartment was roomy and nice, the location is fantastic, close to Walnut St, Carnegie Mellon, and Chatham, and management, especially Mariena and Bandy, was helpful. Maintenance responded quickly too. It's a good option for graduate students and young professionals, though probably not ideal for a family.

Our daughter had a great experience living at Shadyside Apartments for two years during grad school. The price was good, the location was great, and the Shadyside team were friendly and quick to respond. It was a good experience for us as parents too.

Safe, clean, and in an excellent location, with staff who are efficient and really helpful. If you're looking for somewhere that feels like home, this is a great choice. Highly recommend.
