Traveler's Rest

The hosts were so welcoming and helpful, and their love of travel really comes through. They went out of their way to make me feel at home. Paul, Mary Beth, and the staff have turned this old building into a destination in its own right. The hostel-style rooms and beds are simple, but the amenities make it special. The Great Room's woodwork has been restored to its original grandeur, and the fridge is stocked with drinks and snacks. Laundry and the garage were especially useful for me as a thru traveler needing to clean up and store gear. Downtown is only minutes away by bus, bike, or even on foot. This place is a gem.

Of the three places I've stayed in Pittsburgh, this one is the gem. People really hang out and talk in the common areas, which I haven't experienced at other hotels. I felt safe sitting outside alone for smoke breaks, and parking and getting around were easy. The city sounds were expected and didn't disturb us. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Staff were welcoming, kind, friendly, helpful, and easy to connect with. I'll return and recommend it to friends who love visiting the Burgh.

We stayed here to kick off our GAP trail trip, and the bike storage garage was the best part. The four twin beds we booked had very comfortable mattresses, and breakfast was great. The value for what we paid was incredible. We arrived late and only slept there, so I wish we'd booked one more day to see a bit of Pittsburgh.

For a quick Pittsburgh visit, this was just what I needed. The room and bathroom were clean, and there was a bus stop nearby. Breakfast came as a nice surprise since I hadn't realized it was included. Best of all, the owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the price was unbeatable. I'd highly recommend it and hope to return.
