Golden Gate Lodging

We came up from Canada for the 4th of July and had a great time. The private beach was clean, and our corner room overlooking it was especially nice. The rooms were clean, and Bob was friendly and helpful. We could walk along the beach to McDonalds, and it was about a 50-second walk to McDonalds for a late-night stop. The hotel was close to Plattsburgh city beach and about 10 minutes from restaurants and the shopping center. We watched the 4th of July fireworks from the comfort of the private beach. We've already recommended it to family and friends and will definitely come back.

The room looked pretty rundown overall, even though some parts had been renovated, like the toilets and sinks. The bed was broad and clean enough. The bathroom had cobwebs and little flies, and there was a cigarette under the cupboard. The receptionist was quite unfriendly, too.

The staff were excellent and really friendly. They moved us from the second floor to the first when we asked, and when we accidentally left our computer at the motel, someone found it and brought it to the office. They kept it safe until we could come back for it. Our room was clean and comfortable, though a bit overpriced. For that price, they should offer some kind of breakfast.

For a weekend exploring the area, the small, basic room worked well as a place to sleep, and the price was fair. It had a TV, swipe key card, second-floor balcony, fridge, microwave, hot water, shampoo, soap, and towels. The private beach was clean and had been swept recently, and you could walk along it to McDonald’s. It's a great location. The walls are a little thin, so you hear people coming and going through the heavy doors, and the geese on the beach are audible too. We could sleep through it, though.
