Rip Van Winkle Motel

After two nights, my wife and I planned to extend our stay because of a few circumstances and limited hotel availability. She called the front desk, explained we’d be delayed getting our few things out at checkout, and apologized. The front desk person said it was okay and not to worry. But later that evening, after work, we were told we were banned from staying there again because we hadn’t retrieved our things before checkout. We’d been clean, respectful, and quiet, and the staff had approved it. We were going to pay cash for the room. My wife called crying to ask why, and they were cold about it. Our family had nowhere to go for three nights. The room itself was awful. As soon as we opened the door, there was a strong musty smell of urine and body odor, and a very visible red substance splattered on the wall. We slept on top of everything, using our clothes as a barrier because the smell and general filth were nearly unbearable. At check-in, we were treated like criminals under the new management. I’m not sure whether the front desk woman’s boyfriend even legally works for the company. He drives aggressively in circles around the hotel with a yellow caution light on the dashboard, apparently as security. Some structure or rules might be useful, but the way these two managers acted felt like they were following a personal agenda and stroking their egos, rather than doing what’s best for the company. I hope karma comes for you all, and soon.

Arthur never showed up, but after I looked at the newspaper, I understood why.

The front desk gave us everything we needed, and they even took away all my empties. My wife and I rented a cabin for our honeymoon, and it was phenomenal. The room was clean, well kept, and smelled great. The whirlpool made our honeymoon even more special. I’d recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

The room was updated and clean, but you can hear your neighbors through the thin walls. There’s no coffee maker, phone, or hair dryer in the room, and there are no curtains, so outside lights shine right through at night. There was just one small trash can. If you’re staying several days, bring your own bags, since housekeeping doesn’t come during multi-day stays.
