America's Best Inns and Suites

I paid $80.00 for a clean, fair room on my first stay, with no complaints. Two weeks later, a different employee wanted $130.00 when I walked in. There was no event in town or any other reason for a $50.00 increase. They have the same room on Priceline for $75.00. It feels like they set the price after looking at what you drive and wear, to see what they think you can afford. Call ahead if you stay here so you don't get caught out. When I showed the rude foreign woman my receipt from two weeks earlier, she said, "I Don't Care" and "If You Don't Like It, Go Away." They're trying to fleece customers for as much as possible. Very unscrupulous business. I would NEVER stay here again!

I had no problem with this place when it was Americans best inn, but now it's Haven Hotel, and I'm furious about how we were treated. I work too hard for my money to waste it and be treated like crap. The woman who's supposed to be the manager was racist as hell. Nobody will tell me her name, maybe because they're afraid of her, but I'm calling corporate Monday morning. I reserved a decent room. When she saw my husband, our baby, and me, she had the receptionist change it to a nasty, unbelievably small room with holes in the wall and a door that doesn't close. We asked to switch and she gave us attitude, then claimed there were no rooms left. But she sold the room we'd reserved to a white couple right in front of us. I'm Black, and it felt like she assumed we'd party and mess up the room. We got the key, and she told the man to switch us to this hole-in-the-wall room. Then she said no other rooms were available while giving our original room to that couple, right under our noses. What in the hell is that? That's racist and disrespectful. She's going to hear from corporate.

The room was a nightmare, and we should have left, but we were worn out from driving and didn't know where else to go. The carpet was filthy, the bathroom floor had someone else's pubic hair on it, and the tub was dirty. There was mold on the shower curtain, and the bathroom window screen was half spray-painted. A big, dirty, marked box with white flat paint sat outside the bathroom, I guess it was the water heater. The shower water was scalding, enough to burn a child or senior citizen easily. Carpet at the bathroom tile edge was lifted and frayed, a real trip hazard. The door was loose in its frame even with the deadbolt set, and you could see outside around it. The frame was in terrible shape. From the totally disinterested greeter who checked us in to the moment we walked out, the whole experience felt like being in a scary movie.

Zero stars should be an option. The shower wouldn't drain, and at 3AM there were derelicts and undesirables wandering the parking lot. Someone propositioned me on the way to my room. This dump seems perfect if you're looking for somewhere to use drugs all night.
