Haven Hotel Pompano Beach

The only kind person I met was the overworked cleaning lady, who was as sweet as could be. The office staff were rude and intrusive, and the long-term tenants seemed to be drug users or dealers. The rooms were dirty, dusty, moldy, and unbearably hot, with an AC that barely worked. There were roaches in the microwaves and other places. This place is a total dive, and you couldn't pay me to stay again. Even in an emergency, I'd choose sleeping in my car.

We only booked this place as a last resort, and I do believe you get what you pay for. The first room was disgusting, the AC was useless, and there was a nasty odor. We asked to move and got room 225, which was better but still mediocre at best. The front desk and owners were so rude, especially the younger Indian woman at the desk. She spoke with such an attitude, as if I were beneath her, and was cold and dismissive. I was shocked. It was unprofessional, and they didn't seem to care about accommodating us. I'd rather pay more to stay somewhere else. Never again.

The grounds had potholes, and the staff were incredibly rude, hateful, and unhelpful. My room smelled of mildew and black mold, with cigarette odor and burns too. I found bedbugs, and a roach crawled across the bathroom sink. There was no toilet paper, and the sheets and comforter were stained. The room lock didn't work, so I had to walk back up to have the key fixed three times. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The room was filthy from top to bottom. The mattress was badly misshapen and stained, the TV stayed on one channel and wouldn't turn off unless I unplugged it, and everything was coated in sticky dust. There were crumbs, coffee, and dirt on the kitchen table and floor; old food and leaked juices covered the fridge. The carpet had wet spots all over, and I have no idea what they were wet with. The chain lock was broken, and the other lock was barely hanging on, so the door could easily have been kicked in. The phone didn't work, so I went to the office to ask for a different room. Only a security guard who didn't speak English was there. He said he could do nothing and told me to talk to someone in the morning. At 10 a.m. housekeeping woke me by pounding on my door. When I spoke with the office, the woman was very unkind and unapologetic. She said she'd already given me a one-hour late checkout, and that was all she could do. It was a nightmare. I usually only write reviews for exceptional service, but this was like something I'd only seen in movies. Don't stay unless everywhere else is full and you're desperate.
