Super 8 by Wyndham Pompano Beach

We chose this place because it was near the amphitheater, so we could walk there and back. The front desk was friendly when we checked in, and the parking lot was empty. There wasn’t any food nearby. As soon as we saw the room, we decided to leave. It was disgusting, with filthy carpets and a dirty shower right beside the bed instead of in a bathroom. We’d thought we might manage one night, but couldn’t, and chose to lose the money rather than complain. Don’t waste your money here.

I stayed in Room 201. It was dirty, dingy, and disgusting. The mattress cover was stained with who knows what, the blanket was burned, the floors were dirty, and the tub had so much grime it looked like Comet wouldn’t get it off. My husband sank on his side of the bed. The only good thing was that we didn’t find bedbugs or roaches, which surprised me given how the room looked and felt. The same man who checked me in was there when I left in the morning, but he was asleep as I walked out. There was a cleaning lady, though I’m not sure what they’re paying her for. Pay extra and stay somewhere else. Never again!

I was charged 167 even though the rate was 144 for one night. The place smelled of mold and mildew. I didn’t want to interrupt the guy’s TV show to ask about the charge, especially since he wasn’t friendly. Find somewhere else to stay.

We booked three nights but left after just one. This was a huge disappointment, and the room was so substandard that my husband called it the Bates Hotel. The sink faucet broke off in your hand, the shower handset mount was broken, and you had to hold it while showering or spray water around the room. The toilet seat was broken too, and the shower soap holder had come away from the tile, leaving a hole in the wall. One lamp wasn’t plugged in, and when I checked, a broken prong from its cord was stuck in the outlet, so nothing could be plugged in there. The tiny closet had one hanger. If the bathroom door was left open, it swung into the room door and blocked it. I wasn’t expecting a high-end hotel, but we roughed it out for one night because we were traveling with another couple. I’d tell everyone to stay away.
