Ponce De Leon Motel

It’s a quiet little motel, and ours was well cared for. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and there was plenty of hot water. I also liked that the A/C had a fan setting that could stay on, even though the place itself was already peaceful.

Being right off the highway was convenient, but we didn’t get the basic comfort we wanted after a road trip. At 10:30 at night, in very cold weather, I had to stand outside at the window and fill out paperwork by hand to check in. I tried to let that go, but the room was freezing too. The heat would run for maybe 30 seconds, then shut off, and the cold came right back. The shower was another problem. My husband had to collect water in the ice bucket and pour it over himself. In the morning, I got enough pressure that I didn’t need the bucket, but it still wasn’t working like a normal shower. The sheets smelled moldy, and the pillows were tiny, like stamps. We were uncomfortable the whole time, and between the cold room and the shower, I wouldn’t stay here again.

I chose this motel after reading such good reviews, and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s clean and well maintained, and it worked out great for an overnight stay.

I really like older motels where I can park right by the door, instead of hauling my things half a mile to the room. This one was quiet, and the gentleman who checked me in was very nice. My room looked attractive and was immaculate, with a comfortable bed and spotless bathroom. It also had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. I’d highly recommend it.
