Captain Grant's Bed and Breakfast

The tour gave us a chance to see the property and spend time with our hosts, and everyone was so friendly that it felt like we’d known them forever. Ellie and Mike welcomed us warmly as soon as we arrived and made us feel right at home. The place looked just as it was described: clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. My husband and I had a lovely stay at Captain Grant’s, and it went beyond what we expected. We’ll definitely return.

Carol made things easy for us, accommodating both our vegetarian diet and the fact that we had our child with us. The inn has a real sense of history, and you can see how much care has gone into it. I loved meeting all the different people passing through. It’s in a beautiful area, and staying there felt like being with family.

The innkeepers were wonderful, and breakfast was great. There were cookies and wine in the dining room all day, plus a comfy bed and sherry in our room. There’s so much history here, and the inn is haunted too. We were in town for a concert at Mohegan Sun, just five minutes away, and a matinee at the Goodspeed Opera House the next day. When we got back from the concert, I was surprised to hear kids down the hall. At breakfast, the only other guests were adults staying on the first floor, and we were the only ones on the second. Such a remarkable overnight stay. I can’t wait to come back!

The hosts Ted and Carol treat everyone like family, and the staff really go out of their way to help you feel comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed our two-day stay, with comfortable beds, lovely decor, and a nice family-style breakfast.
