The room was unusual but comfortable, and just right for a short visit. Everyone was friendly, the customer service was great, and they even left dog bowls and a treat for our dog. It's a quick walk to the beach, and we'd happily return. We rented a golf cart for $75 for four hours in February, and it was well worth it. We cruised along the whole beach, stopping whenever we felt like it, without worrying about getting sand in the car. For dinner, we first tried the Fish Place, but after seating a couple who arrived just as we did, nobody checked on us or even said they'd be with us soon. We left and went to The Pelican instead. It was definitely pricey, but the food was GREAT.

The bamboo décor, bright colors, playful decorations, and dog-friendly feel are a big part of why I love these old cottages. They're a short walk from the beach, and you quickly get into island time. Just relax and enjoy. I've stayed eight times and have another visit booked. The cottages are fun, and the other guests are too. They're charming, very clean, and a little rustic, though they're no Hyatt Regency. The hosts go out of their way to make sure people have a good time. Across eight visits I've never seen bugs, despite what another review said, and the drains have always worked fine. Once, a shower drain cover was bent, and they came right over to fix it.

The cabanas were clean and recently renovated, and the location is fantastic, very close to the beach. The shower is small and stand-up only, but it was clean and drained perfectly. This isn't a luxury hotel with a high price tag. The place dates back to 1949, and its colorful, charming character made it comfortable and homey for us. I've been to Port Aransas many times and stayed at at least four island hotels or motels, and Laughing Horse Lodge was one of my most comfortable, relaxing stays. The staff were friendly and helpful with questions about food and getting around. They checked in when they saw us without hovering. We plan to return as soon as we can, and I'd recommend The Laughing Horse Lodge.

After several places in Port A said they couldn't fit our family because of the number of kids, Laughing horse was happy to accommodate us. We've stayed in #6 a couple of times and really enjoyed it. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are great. I'm glad we found this place, and we're booking another stay soon!

The people were nice, and it's within walking distance of the beach. It also seems to welcome dogs. Still, we won't stay here again. In #12, we found cockroaches, earwigs, and ants, plus broken glass and lots of dog hair under the bed when we reached under to get our one-year-old. The kitchen had very few utensils, and the coffee maker broke after three days of normal use. The online photos of #12 are out of date: instead of the living room furniture shown, there are two twin beds in the corner with a table.
