Mayan Princess #318 2 Bedroom Condo

The rooms are spacious and have plenty of amenities. From the lower floors it's easy to get to the pool and beach, and the AC works well. There are three pools, with shallow areas for kids and deeper ones for adults. They look like they have a poolside bar, but it doesn't seem to be in use anymore, which is a shame. The worst pool issue was a huge red ant infestation between the lower shallow pool and the upper one that spills into it. There were probably thousands of ants, and a child could easily get bitten by stepping on them. The place seems to get regular maintenance, so it felt like they just didn't care about the ants. We were also woken by banging and hammering every day, starting around 9:30 am. I don't know what they were working on, but the walls are thin and it was extremely loud. The shower never got comfortably hot, while the spa worked fine and did get hot. The dial settings were confusing and never seemed to point to hot or cold. There isn't any service during your stay, so laundry and trash are up to you. That's not a huge deal, but other condo style hotels do offer it. You can't see the ocean from the lower floors because the dunes block the view. This was better than an average hotel, but fell short of what I expect from a resort.

We've enjoyed your properties for decades, and this stay itself was fine. But the reception was rude and very unprofessional. We're elderly and handicapped, yet the front counter staff put us in inaccessible rooms where we had to manage three or more staircases. She wouldn't give us the time of day to arrange a suitable suite. That kind of attitude and detached behavior is unacceptable in hospitality. The room was cozy and colorful, with Mexican tiles and beach themed art that felt fun and authentic. It gave us a bit of a Mexico getaway, without the hassle of drug cartels, lol. During our stay, water came in because of the upstairs neighbor. We told the front desk, and Jeremy from maintenance showed up within three minutes with towels and fixed the issue. He was attentive and helpful.

The beach access and location were great, but the price didn’t match what we got. We stayed in 317, which was clean and roomy, yet most of the furniture felt very outdated and uncomfortable to sit or sleep on. The dining table and patio tables seemed to be the only updated pieces. Bring your own pillows, and if you use the hide-a-bed, some extra padding would help. Mayan Princess seems to have gone downhill lately. I hope it gets back to how it used to be.
