Ocean's Edge Hotel, Port Aransas,TX

I’m lowering my rating to one star. My original review was three stars, with rooms at two, service at three, and location at four. I never spoke to the owner, and I can provide receipts for my stay. After reading the other bad reviews and the hotel’s responses, I understand why they respond that way. Others have described the same problems. I’d suggest Amelia's landing instead, where the customer service was much better and the rooms were cleaner. The room needed a lot of work. The towel rack and bathtub faucet were both pulling out of the wall, and things seemed to be left until they broke instead of being maintained. It smelled strongly of bleach, but the walls, appliances, and floor still weren’t properly wiped or mopped. Our towels had reddish rust stains, and there was visible mold on the door jamb. They wouldn’t adjust or correct the price for our stay, so I’d advise against making a reservation. Most of the office staff were okay, and the morning woman who dresses nicely was very kind. I wouldn’t stay here again.

It’s about a mile to the ocean, so the drive is short. The staff were really nice, and I’ve got no complaints. I travel a lot for work and stay in hotels more often than at home, so I was surprised by how clean and well put together my room was. I’ll definitely book here again when I’m back in town.

We come back every year for our anniversary weekend, and it’s become our favorite place to stay in Port A. The best value is between October and February. The rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly in a way that makes you feel like a friend coming home after being stationed across the globe. And the breakfasts are the best around. We always have a wonderful time.

Our king bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was roomy and clean. There was some rust on the towel rack, though this close to the ocean it seems like a constant battle. The staff were very accommodating about our travel needs, and breakfast was really good, with a mix of hot and cold options.
