For a budget stay, it’s decent, and the room was very clean. We checked in late after the seasonal reopening, and it took a while to find someone, as it seemed there was only one person working. The room had a small fridge, microwave, and digital safe. Wi-Fi worked well, but Direct TV was no use, there was nothing good to watch. The mattress was awful, especially with my chronic back problems, and the tub was just okay. The blanket was so thin it felt like a fuzzy sheet. Breakfast was limited to waffles you make yourself, bagels, little donuts, two types of honey buns, and flavored yogurt. There was no protein, only coffee and black tea, and the orange juice machine was out of order.

UPDATE: The manager finally called back more than a week later, with one excuse after another and the usual “I’ll have to look into it.” He said they don’t provide regular housekeeping. When I asked what we were meant to do with the towels and garbage, he said to bring them to the front desk or request pickup because they didn’t want them left in the hall. Request it? We did, twice. We paid for a stay, and taking out trash and replacing towels are basic essentials, not our job. That’s exactly what we’d asked for. We stayed Thursday through Monday, May 28-June 1, 2026, in room 106. At check-in there was no one at the desk. A man in regular clothes was talking to someone about rooms, maybe the owner, and called a woman from the back to help. She loudly asked where someone was, then eventually came out. The lobby smelled fine, but the musty odor got obvious on the way to our room and was worse inside. We turned on the AC to move some air. The service was a mess. We left Friday around 9 a.m. and got back at 10:30 p.m. to find no housekeeping. On Saturday we asked for service as we left around 9:30 a.m., were told okay, then came back at 10:30 p.m. to find it hadn’t been done again. On Sunday we told the front desk about the missed service and asked again as we left around 9:45 a.m. When we returned around 9 p.m., someone had only picked towels up off the bathroom floor. They weren’t replaced, and the garbage wasn’t emptied. We checked out Monday and asked for the manager, who wasn’t there. I called again a few hours later, then again a day or two later, and got nowhere. There were problems all over room 106. The floor outside the bathroom sagged noticeably, maybe from old water damage. The carpet was stained, smelly, and badly in need of replacement. A cover was missing from the outlet used by the floor lamp, and a strip of veneer was missing below the mini fridge. The tub drain was broken and sitting on the tub edge, the bathroom sink had no plunger, and two of the three vanity bulbs were out. The door’s privacy latch had been crudely patched with wood glue, plywood blocks, and drywall screws. People with us in room 217 had a softball-sized hole in their wall. The pool was cloudy enough that we couldn’t see a single step, and there was a film on the water. It ranges from 3 to 5 feet deep. Lake Erie was nice to look at, but the so-called rocky shore also had lots of old broken sidewalk concrete, so be careful. Not every room has a balcony or outdoor space, and I don’t think the first-floor rooms do. Breakfast was awful. There wasn’t a piece of fruit the whole time, and they had no fruit juice, just coffee. The choices were a single waffle maker, bagels, cereal, packaged little honey bun or cinnamon roll things, and cupcakes. Yes, cupcakes. People who say the staff are good or outgoing are lying to you. We thought the place looked and sounded decent, but it wasn’t. This was below normal hotel standards, and I’ll never waste money here again. If management had cared and offered some compensation, we might have considered coming back. They didn’t. Nice place to stay? No. Luxury? Absolutely not.

We’ve felt welcome since our first call, and the helpful front desk staff and housekeepers have been great throughout our stay. We rented a suite and are really pleased with the space, including separate bedrooms, a full-size fridge, and a TV and AC in each room. The view is spectacular, too. Six nights cost a very reasonable amount, and it’s been well worth it. We’re enjoying ourselves and will definitely return.

The location is right on Lake Erie, which is ideal if you like being by the water. Put in Bay and other major attractions are close by. The staff and owner gave us a warm welcome, and we had a wonderful stay. There’s coffee available in the lobby around the clock. I highly recommend staying here in Port Clinton.

The air conditioner was so loud that I barely slept, maybe three hours, and it was hard to breathe in the room. I didn’t feel it was safe for my family to stay another night, so we’re leaving after one, even though we booked two. The room and hallway both smelled of old cigarettes and mildew or mold. The beds were awful, and the bathroom was so dirty I wouldn’t take off my flip-flops to shower. There was mold along the bottom of the shower curtain. The strip separating the bathroom tile from the carpet had broken off; my five-year-old daughter caught her toe on it, tore off a piece of skin, and was bleeding. This was a horrible hotel.
