White Sands Motel

Really nice and friendly place, with just about everything in one stop. There’s a place to stay, a restaurant and bar, boat slips, live shrimp for sale, and all the fishing supplies you might need for a trip. It’s pet friendly too. I like it so much that I stay once a month, and sometimes twice in a month, when I go fishing. Highly recommend.

The new owners have renovated this older restaurant and motel and made it much better. The rooms are reasonably priced, and the restaurant food is great. We left the restaurant full fools. The owner/manager is awesome and clearly putting his blood, sweat, and tears into the business. A great place to stop.

The location is convenient and affordable for the area, with Walmart and HEB down the street and the beach only 10 minutes away. There’s also a restaurant and marina on site. We enjoyed our stay: the rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

We only looked past all the problems because the kitchenette let us cook instead of depending on fast food. We booked it for an extended stay while my husband was working at SpaceX, but the rooms looked nothing like the website. They were filthy, rundown, extremely outdated, and infested with roaches. Cleaning was offered only once a week. There was dirt caked around the baseboards, grubby fingerprints everywhere, and food stains on the cabinets. The bathroom sink was clogged and they refused to fix it, the water pressure was terrible, and the mini split A/C didn't work in 90 degree weather. The location and other guests were loud and inconsiderate, with constant mariachi music and partying, and the staff were hateful. When we asked about reserved parking near our room, the receptionist brushed us off. The next morning we found a suspicious leak in the back driver's tire. My husband worked nights, but staff banged on the door and woke us rudely nearly every day. Although we told the main lady each time we spoke that we planned to stay long term, she booked our room to someone else and then said we hadn't told her. We were told to leave while my husband was supposed to be resting, and had to find another place in a hurry. The low price is there for a reason. This is the worst place and service I've ever experienced. If you like mariachi music, dirt, and terrible attitudes, stay. If you prefer country music, cleanliness, and a good attitude, don't. I'd give zero stars if I could. Spend a little more and go elsewhere.
