Danfords Hotel and Marina

There was a lot of noise from upstairs, which was the only downside. I’d still definitely come again. The king room was nice, and I loved the balcony overlooking the water and ferry area. The fireplace was large, and being able to use a real log was great.

Our waterfront ceremony had the ferry and boats in the background, and Danford's was a beautiful wedding venue. Annmarie and Elyse, our coordinators, were especially attentive to every detail and helped us through each step, from booking right up to the wedding day. We were treated like a king and queen by the Danford's and Black Pearl Catering staff. We got married here on 10/11/25, and the day and experience couldn’t have been more perfect. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly, professional, and the happiest, smiliest group we’d ever seen. We stayed the night too. Our room was beautiful, clean, spacious, had a comfortable bed, and looked out over the water. A perfect wedding day and night!

The wait staff were the best part of the dinner. Our waitress was so sweet and apologetic, and brought the Manager over so we could explain what was wrong. He said he’d take everything back because the food wasn’t to our liking. We told him it wasn’t a matter of taste, it was inedible. Nothing else was offered as a substitute. Our turkey dinners were cold after being carted outside to the Black Pearl room across from the main restaurant, and one plate had what looked like leftover turkey pulled together with bones and cartilage. We’d planned a lovely Thanksgiving family reunion, with everyone driving in from out of state, and the meal ruined the holiday gathering. The price-fixed menu wasn’t inexpensive, and it was hard to believe they couldn’t offer a burger or something else instead. The Manager had a terrible demeanor with customers. Shameful. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The location is very convenient, but that’s the only positive I can give Danfords. A friend and I stayed two nights, from Sept 23rd to 25th, and spent over $900 on the room plus another $200 at the Black Pearl bar on Tues night. The experience was incredibly disappointing. The carpet outside the bathroom was soaking wet when we got to the room after 9:00 pm. Reception said no one from engineering could come that night and there wasn’t a comparable room available. At 7:45 am Wed, someone tried to come in. They said they were engineering when we asked, and we were still in bed, so we asked them to return later. When we came back that afternoon, the carpet was still soaked, with no word on whether anything had been done. It stayed wet for the whole visit. The room felt terribly damp and had a few gnats. Besides being unpleasant, it seemed like a very unhealthy environment. The Black Pearl bar was infested with fruit flies too. We were told it had separate ownership, but it’s listed on Danfords’ website and falls under Danfords. I contacted management at the email address the front desk gave me, but got no reply after several days. I also put the details in the emailed survey and heard nothing back.
