Courtyard by Marriott Port St. Lucie Tradition

There are plenty of restaurants and shops less than a mile away, and the Courtyard by Marriott Port St Lucie is right off the highway. The hotel feels cozy, with spacious, comfortable rooms, a fitness center, and a bistro. I’d prefer firmer pillows. The bathrooms are modern, but watch your step going into the shower because the floor can be slippery. Spring training baseball draws a lot of visitors to Port St Lucie, so book ahead if you’re going to the Treasure Coast.

Most of my stay was pleasant: the rooms were clean, the fitness room was nice, and the pool was basic. Most staff were delightful and welcoming. One check-in desk employee, though, was rude and unhelpful. She gave unpleasant looks and answered simple questions, like ones about parking, with just one word. There was no effort at courtesy or a welcoming smile, which stood out against the rest of the experience and hurt my impression of the hotel.

The gym is good, and the location is convenient, close to the freeway and restaurants. Despite being a newer hotel, our room had a broken cabinet and a broken toilet. Housekeeping was nonexistent.

No one was at the desk when I arrived late, and they didn’t answer the phone. The overnight staff had an attitude. I understand that late check-ins can be inconvenient, but this is still a business. Please make sure staff work professionally and keep a good attitude at every hour, whether midday, late at night, or early morning, and don’t leave the front desk unattended for hours.
