Holiday Inn Port St. Lucie by IHG

I paid $318 for one night mainly so I could relax in the hot tub, but it was freezing. There weren't any towels stocked by the pool, the whole place smelled of chemicals, and everything looked outdated, with mildew and rusty or scratched decor. The tiny TV looked like it was from the '90s and had only 20 channels, with just half working, so I ended up watching my phone. The gym was closed, and breakfast wasn't free. This place charges five star prices for run down motel service. Save your money and find something worth the cost. Do better, Holiday Inn from pt st Lucie. I want my money back.

The staff were so friendly they felt more like friends helping out than employees doing a job. The beds were comfortable too. My favorite thing was the grand bath in the bathroom. I'd come back for a staycation just for that. One downside: despite all the No Smoking signs, the elevators and reception area had a strong cigarette smell.

We left and checked into the Hilton down the road. The room smelled of mildew, the tub caulk was about four inches thick with mold, the floors didn't look vacuumed in quite a while, the double pane windows were fogged over, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. The fourth floor smelled awful when the elevator doors opened. The lobby was dirty and smelled of mildew too. Even getting around the building was unpleasant: the drop-off area was dark, the roof was missing tiles, the elevator floors were chipped, and the buttons were hard to push. The doors took a long time to open at the floor. Internet and electrical wires were zip tied and stapled to the walls. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The photos online don't show what it's really like. The staff were mixed, some noticed us, while others seemed not to care. I wondered if they even knew I was staying there. They're renovating, but the place is so outdated and uncared for that I'm not holding out much hope. The pool wasn't heated, and lights stick up in it in a way that seemed dangerous. Our room was horrible and dirty. The window seals were all broken, making the windows hard to see through, and the beds were terrible. We stay at Holiday Inns all the time for my husband's job, and this was the worst. The bathroom felt about the size of a closet. Also, breakfast wasn't free.
