Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Portage, IN

After leaving a disappointing hotel, we were glad we came to Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Portage. The two women at the front desk helped us get a great room, and check-in was easy. They made sure we were comfortable from the start. The rooms were roomy, tidy, and had what we needed. Everything was exceptionally clean and well kept, and it's clear the hotel takes pride in maintaining things and giving guests a reliable stay. I'd happily come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place in Portage.

Debbie, I believe that's her name, had breakfast ready on time every morning during my 4-night stay. The free breakfast was amazing and definitely worth the money.

The children loved the pools, even though they were a bit chilly, and the hotel ran out of pool towels. Everyone on staff was friendly, especially at the front desk. The third floor hallway and our room had dirty carpet that needed shampooing, and the chair's armrests were filthy. It took a while for the shower water to heat up, but it was hot once it did, though the water seemed hard. The toilet paper holder was loose and looked like it had been reattached before. The hot tub stopped working during our stay, which was disappointing. We could also hear what sounded like a fourth floor birthday party, with singing and then what seemed like dancing in big boots, until about 11:30 at night.

The hotel was quiet and peaceful during the 3 nights I was there, and the room was clean. It's just a place to sleep. Breakfast is said to start at 6:00, but that's when staff begin setting things up, so it was about 6:30 before everything was out and running smoothly. Having all the semis parked outside was annoying, and I nearly parked my truck there the first night. Everyone has a job to do.
